Labels
Labels are a big part of everybody’s design needs at the Beaty. Every object needs a label, and there are serious design constraints on labels, having to do with size, material, and print process. Some labels need to be big and include a lot of information. Some labels need to be small and be tied to a bird’s leg. Some need to be dunked in alcohol.
To address this, I’ve developed two things that are worth talking about: 1. A label designer web application: http://apps.beatymuseum.ubc.ca/labels 2. A system to host the web application
For (1) I’ll demo the label designer, run a tutorial on using it, and take questions about it and design requests. However, I actually think that (2) is more exciting, and I’ll also briefly motivate why the web app system may make your life easier.
